Short Story - The Shop of Grocer
Charles could not keep count of the times he would stop and look in the window of the grocer’s shop. That attractive sight looked even more enchanting now that it was Christmas time. What delicious foods were there on the great wooden table! An enormous turkey took pride of place in the middle and it was circled by roast geese, hams and strings of sausages. Over the rest of the table there were cake stands of multi-hued marzipan fruits, huge sweet chestnuts, toffees, apples and sugared pears. In the air, there was a faint aroma of punch which warmed the little boy’s heart.
